The Jackson Kayak crew are out at Rock Island rebuilding the backstage play feature that they first created around this time in 2010. It's a really fun feature and we can't wait to get back out in it. Check out some info and a video on it.
While the Middle TN area is a very nice place to live, there are not a lot of local outdoor gear shops. The few that are around also don't really cater to the whitewater community. Chances are that you have had to order tons of stuff online without seeing it in person, you get very few chances to demo different boats, etc. Well, Outdoor Experience in Cookeville is your savior.
I have seen a lot of great Fail videos and some of them involve kayaking. That being said, I think this is one of the best/worst ever. Talk about seal launch gone wrong...

David Fusilli, Matt Ange, Mack Magee, Clay Lucas and Gareth Tate take on Toxaway creek in Western North Carolina. This is a seriously steep creek consisting of mostly Class V slides. It looks super fun but you better be committed and have some good stamina for the rapids, portages and the 4 mile hike out!

Paddlers Bren Orton, David Wild and Brandon Hepburn put the Pyranha Jed through the paces in Nottingham. The moves these guys are pulling off are incredible, especially the combos! Freestyle kayakers are really pushing the envelope and the kayaks keep getting better and better.
WeStroke was at the 2012 Green River Race as spectators (this year) cheering on this year's paddlers. The water was high, the lines crazy and the carnage spectacular! Take a look at the gallery for TONS of great photos!

Check out the results for the 2012 Green River Race. This epic whitewater kayaking creeking race was spectacular as always with plenty of thrills and spills. With a higher than normal flow and tons of talented athletes, new records were set pretty much across the board.
Paul Butler brings us a great whitewater kayaking video called Feeling Like Gold: Part 1. He says that they have been feeling like gold in the SouthEast and have had tons of fun kayaking between Kentucky and North Carolina.
Here is a Carnage! Entry for the Rider of the Year Awards by Evan Garcia. This drop is the Dirty Gerd on the Rio Llancahue in Chile. Evan is an amazing whitewater kayaker but I don't see how he doesn't get hurt when he tags the rocks on this drop.

Rush Sturges throws in his Downriver Freestyle Entry for the Rider of the Year Awards with a front flip off Maruia Falls in New Zealand. Rush first did a trick like this in 2005 and calls it a Hail Mary. Just a sick, sick trick.
Ian Smith brings us a video of his whitewater SUP highlights from 2012. Rivers on the video include the Top Yough, Upper Yough, Savage River, Paint Creek, Cowanshannock Creek, Tygart River, and Big Sandy Creek. Whitewater Stand Up Paddleboarding is hardcore. Much respect.
