The Confluence to Leatherwood Ford

Your first rapid will be some class 2 boogie water.  Nothing to see here folks.

Two popular lines are paddled here.  One is left of center and boof the rock.  The other is ran river right to left through 3 waves.

The main line here is on river right.  This rapid has 2 drops.  The most common line is to catch the eddy on river right before the first drop, then ferry across and drop off beside the rock on the left side.  This will put you in a squirly eddy where you will need ot then paddle aggressively down the center to run the next drop.  The second drop should be a apporached with a little bit of a left angle.  It is very important at lower water levels to be extremly agressive running the 2nd drop.  There is a potential pin spot if you get surfed here.

The cheat line can be ran far river left.  This is a class 2 read and run that ends in a large eddy.

There is a eddy on river right that allows you to boat scout this rapid.  While setting here look for a rock on river left where the river curls from left to right.  This rock makrs the final drop and is where you want to aim your boat.  Pull out into the current and paddle hard toward this rock.  The river will be pulling you right, so be diligent and aggressive.  When you get to the drop make sure your boat is now facing down the river again.

The Center and right side fo this drop can be sticky.

If you do flip here tuck up tight in your safety postion.  There the rock downstream of this is called Cheese Grater.  You can guess why.

This rapid has plenty of play oppurtunity, so take some time to surf while you are here.

This is normally ran by working down the left bank to the first play hole.  Then downstream of this begins a long wave train.  Start center and work yourslef left int a large eddy avoid the large play hole called "Punch in the Nose."  Ferry out of this eddy into the las part of this wave train to run the final drop just right of center.  Then drive back left across the boils and swirls.

The last drop at the end of the wave train has s rock just of center that has a sieve under it.  Be aware of this and avoid it.

This last drop also becomes drminal at levels above 9,000 cfs.

The common line is just left of center.  Going to far left will place you in an eddy that can be difficult to get out of.  To far right puts you in a stick hole.  This can be scouted in a eddy on river right.

The common line here is river left riding the tongue that goes left to right between two holes.    Don't be fooled by the river right chute as it also ends in a sieve.

This rapid is terminal at levels above 10,000cfs.

This rapid starts with two holes and ends with three waves.  These waves are commonly known as "The Three Sisters".  The common line her is to run down the center line that will take you in between the two holes.  This will take you through the center of The Three Sisters.  Hope in the eddy on the right and enjoy soem surf time.

This rapid consist of a series of wave trains followed by a big finishing wave.  Run this one down the middle.

This bridge can be used as a take out to avoid the next 2 miles of flat water.
