This is a 8' drop that appears after just going over a double ledge and paddling around a left bend.
On the right side of the river the channel will narrow down to what appears to be a small slide. This slide opens up to a rather large slide.
This is commonly ran in such a way to avoid the left undercut bank, and boof the 8 foot ledge that lands onto rock. The right side doe provide the best landing, but it too has a nasty undercut. American Whitewater talks of a magical spot that has the best landing.
The common line for this rapid is to start on river right, and rop into the slot far right into a small eddy. Here your going to want to ferry to the left side of the creek. Next your going to peel out and down the tall tongue. This may be one one of your best boofs.
Amost immediatly after Da Boof, you will need to catch the eddy on river left so that to boat scout this one. The common line for this rapid is down a narow notch that has a sticky hole for an entrance. Keep on target here, cause your about to hit a 12' drop with another bad hole. Use some left angle when coming off the drop to avoid the spot to the right of the drop.
Short after Spoonman is a boof on the left, then a manky lege. The runout from this ledge goes to the left wall and drops. Your going want to get th eeddy on the left wall. It's a small eddy, maybe enough room for 2 boats, and you need to catch it. Here you going to get to climb on some loose rock and posion ivy to view this rapid. You will see what many to belive the best rapid on Waldens Ridge.
You will be looking at a 35' descent that consist of 4 drops. AW has some preatty good info on the best way to run this.
After the last drop your going to welcome this one. Still a fairly steep drop, but things start to smooth out a bit. Here your going to see a nice 6' tongue drop, followed by a 6' shoulder drop, and then finally a slide with some nice haystacks at the bottom.
WHen you start to see the bridges over the creek get ready for some excitement. During higher water flows this is normally ran on the left then through the slot in the center of the creek that goes into a stick hole with some sort of recirc pocket on the right.
Finish this up with a boof and take the right split at the boulder in the center of the flow.
At lower flows you may need to start the run on river right, be aware of the nasty undercuts that exist on the right side.
This is a complex boulder garden type of rapid. The flow will reconvien for the final 5' boof into a bad hole.
