Rock Island Backstage Play Spot

- Thursday November 8, 2012

The Jackson Kayak crew are out at Rock Island rebuilding the backstage play feature that they first created around this time in 2010. Check out the video below of how it looked then. Last year, they did not get a chance to build it back up because the water never cut off.

When they first built it, it was great at around 1500 cfs. You can check out this link http://www.tva.com/lakes/gfh_r.htm to check levels before you come to play. The actual location of the spot is on the opposite side of the little island from where brave wave was/is. Go to the Twin Falls overlook area where you would normally play. Walk down the river side path for a bit past top wave, rodeo hole, etc. 35.810401,-85.634483 is the geo coordinates for at least pretty darn close to it.

It is a really fun feature and we can't wait to get back out in it. Also, on your way there, or while you are in the area, check out Outdoor Experience. Killer outdoor gear shop with a full line of Jackson Kayaks to buy/demo, hiking equipment and just about everything else you can think of. Read our review and see some photos of the store here.
